BODY CLAMP is a performance proposal by New York based artists John Furer, Isaac Richard Pool, and Jessica Posner. BODY CLAMP is a practice of fully contingent sculpture within an economy of means. Treading the border of “butch” and baroque, its participants build allegiances with materials through improvisational systems of measurement and security.
For Katz’s Deli, BODY CLAMP constructed two tables-cum-stages during an open shop residency, which were then utilized for an “ahistorical re-performance” of Robert Morris’ 1964 piece Site, originally staged with Carolee Schneeman at Surplus Dance Theater in New York City and later at the Judson Memorial Church as part of the Judson Dance Theater’s series “Concert #16.” BODY CLAMP members Jessica Posner and Isaac Richard Pool performed as both/either Robert Morris and/or Carolee Schneeman. The table-stages concluded their run at the final brunch, and are now property of Katz’s Deli.
